Christmas Lights

yuFrom the Pastors Desk

Well, the Christmas season is upon us and it truly is a wonderful time of the year. As I drive around my neighbourhood, I see many houses magnificently adorned with Christmas decorations, including colourful Christmas lights. These lights are sometimes in their hundreds, if not thousands as they light up and draw attention to this fabulous season. This got me thinking about lights and how we all enjoy not only Christmas lights but light in general. All that is needed to disperse the darkness of our lives is just a little light. The Lord tells us however, that to have true light in our lives we need to have Him in our life. Jesus is the light of the world (John 8:12) and that light He shines is the light of the Father (1 John 1:5). However, we are also called to shine this light, the light of God needs to shine through our lives. As Christians we are to reflect His light throughout the world in order to draw others to this magnificent light, our Saviour Jesus Christ (Isaiah 49:6; Acts13:47).

This week as we gaze upon the beautiful Christmas lights in our neighbourhood and see how powerfully they light up the homes, let us be reminded that this is what we were called to do also, to light up the world around us with the love of Christ. This Christmas, as well as shining our Christmas lights during this festive time, let us also shine the light of God and hopefully bring salvation to all those around us!

  1. A bit of Church, a lot of prayer and the word plus some timely advice to keep the lens clear so the light can shine through
